Clinicians Who Show Up Fully

Our team brings diverse training, lived experience, and deep commitment to trauma-informed, affirming care.

Our Philosophy

At Open Minds Therapy, we believe healing is not a destination - it's a return. A return to safety, to self, to connection.

We take a regulation-first approach, prioritizing nervous system stabilization before depth work. We don't follow rigid protocols - we follow the person in front of us. Our care is individualized, affirming, and grounded in evidence-based practice.

The People Behind the Practice

Clinical Director & Owner

He/Him

Kevin works with clients who have already done therapy or personal work - people who understand their patterns, can explain their experiences, and have real insight into what happened to them. These are clients who know intellectually that certain beliefs are not true, but still feel them as true in their body. They notice that understanding has not changed how they respond emotionally or physically. If you feel stuck despite insight, this work may be a fit. Kevin specializes in childhood trauma, developmental trauma, and single-incident trauma. His approach integrates somatic work, Internal Family Systems (parts work), and depth-oriented therapy. The focus is not on gaining more insight, but on working with the nervous system and the parts of self that hold old beliefs and protective patterns. Beliefs are not just thoughts - they are experienced and reinforced in the body. Kevin works to help clients shift how their system responds at a felt level, not just how they think about their experiences. This involves identifying the parts that carry trauma, building internal awareness, and supporting regulation from the inside out. As Clinical Director, Kevin oversees the clinical vision and culture of the practice.

Practice Director

He/Him

Dennis is a CADC and LMSW, with plans to obtain his LCSW in December 2026. He brings a grounded belief in people's capacity to overcome what they have experienced - a perspective shaped by years of clinical work with clients navigating addiction, trauma, and significant life challenges. His approach balances accountability with understanding, helping clients explore not just their behaviors, but the underlying reasons behind them. Dennis works well with clients who benefit from both structure and insight. Sessions with him involve reflection and direct engagement. He integrates Motivational Interviewing to help clients clarify their goals and build internal motivation, while also incorporating somatic and regulation-based techniques to address how patterns show up in the body and nervous system. His work is depth-oriented, focusing on building awareness, taking ownership, and creating meaningful change. Dennis holds clear boundaries while remaining supportive and nonjudgmental, creating a space where clients can be honest about where they are and what they need to shift. As Practice Director, he oversees the operational infrastructure of Open Minds Therapy, including intake coordination, scheduling, and practice management.

She/Her

Jillian brings a steady, relational presence grounded in her ability to witness others without judgment or the need to immediately fix. She is deeply attuned to her clients' need to feel validated in their experience while also being gently held in moments of grief. She strives to create a space that feels safe, kind, and calming, where individuals can show up as they are and feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Jillian understands that this kind of connection is not secondary to the work - it is the work. Through warmth, compassion, and authentic engagement, she fosters an environment that allows people to explore their inner world, process what they carry, and move toward growth in a way that feels grounded and sustainable.

Elizabeth works with children and adults, with a strong focus on adults healing from trauma and childhood trauma. She is especially drawn to helping clients feel safe enough to explore deeper emotional material and leave sessions feeling lighter, more grounded, and more connected to themselves. Her approach integrates somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, and depth-oriented work. She helps clients understand how trauma lives in the body, how survival patterns show up in daily life and relationships, and how healing happens through safety, regulation, and deeper self-understanding. Clients often report enjoying their sessions with Elizabeth and leaving with a sense of relief, clarity, and emotional movement.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Collaborating Clinician

In-network with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield

Jeremy Gardner is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides virtual medication management for adolescents and adults across Delaware. His path into psychiatric care began after watching a documentary about mental health among people of his own generation, and that has shaped how he practices ever since.

Jeremy built his clinical foundation over a career that moved from LPN to RN to Nurse Practitioner. That progression gave him direct experience across pediatric and adult mental health settings, and it informs the way he approaches assessment, prescribing, and follow-up care.

He believes in meeting people where they are. Diagnosis is information, not identity, and Jeremy works collaboratively with clients to build medication plans that fit their lives, their goals, and their own understanding of what they need.
