Milford, Delaware • Statewide Telehealth
You already understand your patterns.
The work is learning to meet them.
Insight alone doesn't change how it feels inside. Real healing happens when the parts of you that are stuck - the ones that shut down, overreact, or carry old pain - are finally met with understanding rather than pressure to change.
At Open Minds Therapy, we work at the level of the nervous system, the body, and the internal world - not just the story you can tell about yourself.

Who We Work With
Many of our clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who have done the work - and still feel stuck. If any of these resonate, you're in the right place.
You feel stuck in cycles you can't think your way out of - even when you understand them.
Parts of you shut down, overreact, or seem to work against each other.
You feel disconnected from your body, your emotions, or yourself.
You've tried therapy before, but it stayed at the surface.
You function well externally but feel fragmented or overwhelmed inside.
Emotions feel either too much to access - or completely out of reach.
Our Approach
Every modality we use is oriented toward the same goal: helping you develop a different relationship with your internal experience - not just manage it from the outside.
We work with the understanding that the mind is made up of different parts - protective parts that developed for good reasons, and deeper parts that carry pain or unmet needs. Therapy creates space to understand and relate to your internal system rather than fight it.
Trauma and chronic stress live in the body, not just the mind. We help you develop awareness of how your nervous system responds, where patterns show up physically, and how to work with the body as part of the healing process.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps the brain reprocess stuck traumatic memories so they lose their emotional charge. It is one of the most researched trauma treatments available and integrates naturally with somatic and parts-based work.
Outcomes
We don't measure success by symptom checklists alone. The changes our clients describe are felt - in the body, in relationships, and in how they experience themselves day to day.
Greater capacity to stay present with difficult emotions without being overwhelmed.
Less reactivity from protective parts - more choice in how you respond.
A clearer, more coherent sense of who you are and what you need.
The ability to witness your inner experience rather than be controlled by it.
Relationships that feel less driven by old patterns and survival responses.
A body that feels less like a threat and more like a home.
About the Practice
Open Minds Therapy is a trauma-specialized group practice based in Milford, Delaware, with statewide telehealth availability. Our clinicians are trained in depth-oriented, somatically informed approaches - including parts work, EMDR, and nervous system regulation - and bring genuine clinical rigor to every session.
We work with adults navigating complex trauma, chronic anxiety, emotional overwhelm, dissociation, and identity-related stress. We also provide affirming care for LGBTQIA+ clients and those whose experiences have been minimized or misunderstood in other settings.
This is not short-term symptom management. It is deeper work - and we take it seriously.
